We recently had the pleasure of writing Joan’s Memory of Me. She was a young 92-year-old lady who had lived an extraordinary life. She had lived through a World War, become a great- grandma to 10 and seen so many changes in the world. She had a modern outlook but wanted to ensure that her family would remember her. Unfortunately, a few weeks later, Joan died. Her family got in touch with us to say how much Joan had enjoyed her experience of getting her life story done and how the tribute at her funeral was based on those words. It meant that everyone heard her wonderful story, in her own words.
As a funeral celebrant, I understand how the tribute is the most important part of the ceremony and being able to use the person’s own story makes it so special and personal.
